Medical Student Education

  1. Problem-based Learning Facilitator
    2012 – current
For each of the 6 rotations, I facilitate 3-6 of the problem-based learning cases. I have developed several of these in greater detail than the baseline case including incorporating additional studies, suggesting critical thinking about alternate presentations, and building in more background on the case/condition to encourage the students to read further on the subjects.
  2. Rotation Mentor / Coach
    2012 – current
For each of the 6 rotations, I am assigned a medical student for whom I serve as a rotation and career mentor. I meet with them once at the beginning of the block and then usually 1-2 additional times to assess their progress. I encourage them to solicit feedback from their clinical teams and review their more medically and ethically challenging cases.
  3. Clinical Teaching
    2012 – current
Two days per week I am the in-house attending on labor and delivery and work closely with the residents and medical students both in management of the housestaff patients as well as the supervision of the unit as a whole. The attendings, residents, students, and nurses round on the patients 6 times per day, and each of these sessions also serves as another opportunity for education for both students and residents.
